Most of the entrance tests for Medical Colleges in India are held in the months of April / May / June for the academic year commencing from July / August of the following year. Usually, the syllabus of the entrance test is based on the NCERT courses outline of class XI and XII. In most of the Entrance Tests; Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology cover major sections. However, some specific entrance tests also include English Proficiency & Comprehension, Logical & Quantitative Reasoning, General Knowledge/ General Aptitude/ General Ability/ Mental Ability, Current Affairs, Kannada/ Hindi Language Test, Bible Test and Gandhian Ideologies, etc. The weightage of the aforementioned subjects vary from exam to exam. Single test is conducted for most of the entrance tests; while some specific tests are conducted in two-stages/ two-days.
Candidates seeking admission in AFMC for MBBS Course shall register online through NEET and in addition to registering with NEET they shall also have to register at www.afmc.nic.in. Candidates seeking admission under State Quota seats, Central Institutions, AFMC and other participating institutions etc. are also advised to be in touch with the concerned authority viz Medical Education Directorate of the State/ UT/ Institutions/ University/ AFMC.
The conduct of the entrance test, declaration of result and providing merit list to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), New Delhi and participating State Governments/ Universities/ Institutions is the responsibility of the CBSE. The counseling for successful candidates under 15% All India Quota seats is conducted by the DGHS and the counseling for admission in seats under the control of other participating States/ Universities/ Institutions shall be conducted by their respective Authorities.
